To boo, or not to boo - Judd is the question

CHRIS JUDD is set for a mixed reaction on his long-awaited return to the west, with Eagles fans spilt on booing or cheering the former captain when he turns out at Subiaco this weekend.
A debate is rising as to how Eagles supporters should welcome the star back when they take on Judd’s new club Carlton, in one of the games of the year this Friday, May 2, at Subi.
West Coast fan Rachel Bennet, 18, said she was looking forward to sledging the star midfielder during his first game back at Subiaco following his much-hyped move to the Blues.
“I’ll boo him, but I don’t want him targeted or anything, maybe just a few bumps,” she said. “He was a good player and captain, but footy is footy.
“I think West Coast might win but they’ll have to stop Judd if they want too.”
Other West Coast fans were more democratic in welcoming the former captain and Brownlow medallist back.
“I mean, he left but he is still one of the best players in the AFL, so you have to give him respect,” said Reece Power, 18. “I wouldn’t boo him at the game but I hope he gets a few bumps.
“I think someone like [Tyson] Stenglein might play on him and hopefully he won’t get many possessions.”
Tribute to Judd’s star power, the game sold out in 20 minutes, faster than this year’s western derby. Tickets are now selling on EBay for $300.
The bookies are tipping Carlton victory, with TAB odds of $1.55 to win. A poll on PerthNow.com.au had 30 per cent of fans saying they’d boo Judd, 46 per cent saying they would cheer, and 23 per cent not caring either way.
