Wait for second Murdoch ATM nears an end

ANZ’s Melbourne-based media relations officer, Catherine Miller, commented on the bank’s decision.

“We are always interested in different locations where ATMs are frequently used,” she said. “... Murdoch Uni has a good population and we think it is the best fit for us.

“At this stage, I don’t think it is an ANZ branch but just an ATM.”

Last week, the uni’s commercial services director Lisa Spiers said she did not know about any recent liaison with ANZ regarding an ATM (eMu News, May 2, 2008). She also said installation of an ATM on campus was not a high priority. Today, Ms Spiers was unavailable for further comment.

For years now, Bankwest has been the sole ATM provider at Murdoch Uni, with more than 15,000 students and staff sharing its services. The only other ATM is a 15-minute walk across South Street in a Caltex service station.

“I’m glad the long queues and wait to withdraw some cash is finally coming to an end, this is great news!” said third-year student Wayne Kramer.
