Students tolerate religions

by Charissa Mitting

April 15, 2008

STUDENTS at Murdoch University seem to have a high level of religious tolerance, if reaction to campus religious groups is anything to go by.

Danielle Bowler a Sustainable Development student said more religions should be represented at Murdoch.

“I definitely don’t disagree [but] I’d agree more if there was more variety,” Ms Bowler said.

German exchange student, Philip Werner, was surprised religions were represented on campus, particularly by the existing array of Christian groups.

“In Germany, we don’t have Christian groups [on campus],” he said. “It is interesting to see them here.”

More than seven religious groups are currently represented on campus, including those affiliated with Islam, Judaism and Christianity. Only Christian groups are so-far listed under ‘religious clubs’ on the university’s guild web-site.
