Templeman reads to younger constituents

LOCAL MLA David Templeman was on helped launch the 2008 National Simultaneous Storytime at Mandurah Library on May 21.

OVER 840 libraries across Australia took part in the 2008 National Simultaneous Storytime held on Wednesday May 21.

Organised by the Australian Library & Information Association, the storytime was the eighth held across Australia.

“I’m originally a teacher so [reading] wasn’t new ground to me ...,” Mr Templeman told eMu News. “Reading is absolutely crucial for young kids and the value of literacy is very important.”

To 25 enthralled ankle-biters, Mr Templeman read the children’s book “Arthur” by Australian writer Amanda Graham.

“I read to my son all the time,” Mr Templeman later told eMU News. “You have to make it a special experience.
