Bayswater boss exits by release

by Carly Merrett

April 3, 2008

AFTER more than 15 years at Bayswater City council, Chief Executive Officer Mario Carosella will be leaving the council, saying in a release he wishes to pursue other interests.

With a minimum four months notice, Bayswater City Council must now recruit a replacement for someone who, according to mayor Lou Magro, is a great loss to the city.

“His experience, passion and leadership will be greatly missed,” Mr Magro said in the same release.  “Mario Carosella has done a great job ... and his administration of the City of Bayswater has been exemplary.”

“I understand his reasons, but he leaves big shoes to fill.”

Spending time with family and developing other interests has become Mr Carosella’s main concern, but his release says he’ll miss his role at the council.

“It has been a great privilege to have served the City of Bayswater over many years,” Mr Carosella penned. “I have really appreciated the opportunity to work on major projects that my role as CEO has afforded.”

Mr Carosella felt it was very rewarding to work with three mayors, the councillors, staff and the Bayswater community.

During his time at the council, Mr Carosella’s projects included building a 70 bed hostel, the civic centre upgrade, and completion of the Lightning Park Recreation Centre.

We tried twice to get hold of Mr Carosella for an in-depth reflection on his Bayswater experiences, but he didn’t call back by deadline.
