ENTERTAINMENT, exercise and education will be on the agenda when the Western Australian Asthma Foundation hosts its bi-annual Triple ‘E’ event on  April 14 and 15.

The event, taking place over two days these school holidays, combines recreational activities with educational sessions for children who suffer asthma, along with their family and friends.

Children aged 7 to 12 are encouraged by a team of volunteers to make new mates, while at the same time gain a greater understanding of how to control asthma.

It’s a common misconception that exercise is bad for those kids suffering asthma, however project co-ordinator Jo Petersen is quick to point out this is not the case.

“It is a myth that children with asthma should avoid exercise as it is important factor in maintaining lung fitness and managing asthma effectively,” she said in a release.

Children in particular will be pleased to learn the Asthma Foundation will be joined by the Fremantle Dockers, who will help run specialised football clinics.

“The foundation is delighted and very grateful to have the Fremantle Football Club on board and joining the Triple ‘E’ team to encourage all children to take up sport,” Mrs Petersen said.

The event will kick off at the Fremantle Football Club. More info about future Triple ‘E’ events can be found at www.asthmawa.org.au/kids_business.
