Exhibition mum on da Vinci birthday bash

by Rangariro Nyamidzi

April 8, 2008

WITH Leonardo da Vinci’s birthday just around the corner, a visiting exhibition of his work in Perth is gearing up to mark the milestone.

“We are always looking for ways to keep interest in the exhibition and celebrating da Vinci’s birthday is something that we are looking at doing, “ said event manager Thomas Rizzo.

Perth’s Riverside Drive is hosting the da Vinci Machines Exhibition until July 21, which takes in the master’s birthday of April 15.

The exhibition showcases many of da Vinci’s blueprints, expertly built by craftspeople like Rizzo.

Mr Rizzo said he hoped to celebrate Leonardo’s birthday in a similar way to that at a similar exhibition in Sydney last year. He was not letting on what that would entail, however.

However, in 2007 the organisers invited Andrea Centazzo, an Italian born American percussionist, to perform at the Sydney birthday bash.
