Chaser's War on Perth

by Meredith Kelly

April 11, 2008

LOCAL Perth media outlets are not exactly shaking in their boots at the prospect of being on The Chaser’s hitlist when the iconoclastic satirists air their stage show in Perth from April 15.

In the past the Chaser has provoked such sandgropers as Brian Burke and Alan Carpenter on their website. However, perhaps it’s media outlets that should be worried after the Chaser’s recent beef with Channel Seven program Today Tonight.

One Channel Ten Publicist, named Jo, nonchalantly told eMU News she was “not worried in the least” and was baffled as to why her network would be a target anyway.

Claire Moody, who produces ABC’s Stateline, was unaware of the impending visit, even though The Chaser airs on Aunty.

Asked if the impending Chaser visit caused her any concerns ms Moody replied: “not really, we’re really under the pump here and don’t have time to worry”.

Calls to Chaser’s Sydney HQ went unanswered, with a recorded message suggesting a lengthy wait might be in order before Chas and the boys were able to respond.

The Chaser’s Age of Terror Variety Hour plays His Majesty’s Theatre from April 15 to 19.
