MELVILLE mayor Katherine Jackson has lent her support to local residents seeking to turn the soon-to-be-defunct Melville Primary School site into public space.

HAZARDOUS chemicals and toxic material on Fremantle's South Beach is posing a significant health risk to regular users of the beach, according to the Contaminated Sites Alliance.

FREMANTLE Police are unaware of a proposed mobile text message policing service proposed by Fremantle mayor Peter Tagliaferri.

A report in The Sunday Times on the weekend detailed the plan but Fremantle Police and the WA Police Media have not been informed of the idea.
